Advocate for Folwell Hall: Take a tour and learn more
The U is seeking funding in the 2008 legislative session to renovate the interior of this 100-year-old campus landmark and move it into the 21st century. The plans for Folwell are designed to support the most important thing we do: teach.
We invite you to come to campus to learn more about plans to renovate Folwell Hall. Tour Folwell and the recently renovated Jones Hall.
Sat., Jan. 26, 2008
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Freshman Welcome Center conference room
200 Jones Hall
- Associate Dean Mark Pharis will talk about renovation plans, which include significant upgrades of the building's technological capacity to support teaching and learning
- See a demonstration of technology for teaching languages at the Jones Hall Language Center
- Tour Folwell Hall and have some light refreshments in the Weiss Library
- Learn how you can advocate for Folwell Hall with the legislature
Your efforts to advocate for Folwell will make a difference. If you are not able to come for this special event, we encourage you to:
- See what the students are saying about Folwell Hall. Two student-produced videos were posted to YouTube. (Additional videos are planned.)
- Host or attend a legislative district meeting sponsored and organized by the U of M's Legislative Network. All you need to do is help find a location to hold the meeting (in your home or a community location) and be available to greet guests. The Legislative Network folks take care of the rest. To host a meeting in your senate district, contact Wokie Freeman (612-626-1785).
- Attend the Legislative Network's Legislative Briefing and Reception on Wed., Jan. 23, 5:30-8:00 p.m., at the McNamara Alumni Center. Get an insider’s preview of the University of Minnesota’s 2008 capital request. Enjoy a light dinner buffet and learn what you can do to support the U. RSVP by January 17.
- Write to Governor Pawlenty and your legislators. Visit http://ga4.org/campaign/folwell to send the Governor an e-mail and to get information on Folwell. To write a letter, address it to: The Honorable Tim Pawlenty, 130 State Capitol, 75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155.
