Access Minnesota Connects Students, Experts & Citizens
Access Minnesota is a weekly public affairs radio program that airs on over 50 radio stations across the state, including all Clear Channel-owned stations in the Twin Cities metro area. The program reaches over 56,000 Minnesota listeners each week. The CLA Alumni Society collaborates with the Minnesota Broadcasters Association (MBA) and KUOM 770 AM-Radio K to produce this program that brings in notable guests to discuss issues that face Minnesota and the nation.
Past guests on the program include: Minnesota State Legislators Steve Sviggum and Dean Johnson, University President Bob Bruininks, CLA Dean Steven Rosenstone, Intercollegiate Athletics Director Joel Maturi, and various CLA and University professors such as Tim Kehoe, Karal Ann Marling, and V.V. Chari.
Thanks to Access Minnesota, CLA and the University are able to promote faculty research and expertise, and the student staff of Radio K gains real-life production and newsroom experience. Also, the MBA fulfills its requirement through the Federal Communications Commission to offer public affairs programming.
