Important Message for CLA Effort Coordinators, from Sue Paulson, Director of Sponsored Financial Reporting
Just a reminder about the importance of making sure that academic departments are changing their business practices related to effort certification.
Periodic review of costs charged to sponsored projects is needed, and departments cannot wait for the effort certification cycle to process financial adjustments. If SFR has already submitted a final report or invoice to the sponsor on a project, and HSAs are being processed now due to effort certification, we may not revise the report or invoice.
SFR accountants have been asked to be proactive and during final invoice and report preparation to ask the academic departmental accountants about this.

Promotion & Tenure 2008/09 – Information Sessions
Information Sessions: Promotion and Tenure information sessions are scheduled for the following dates and times:
- Meeting with Chairs/Directors, Faculty Advisors/Caseworkers, and Support Staff: Monday, 14 April 2008; 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.; 202 Johnston Hall.
- Meeting with Tenure-track and Tenured Faculty: Tuesday, 15 April 2008; 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.; 101 Walter.
Agenda items will include a review of the relevant documents which govern and inform the promotion and tenure process; a discussion of annual appraisals of probationary faculty; an overview of the promotion and tenure process and timeline for 2008/09; and a discussion concerning the various elements of promotion and tenure dossiers. Particular attention will be given to the changes to the Board of Regents Policy - Faculty Tenure, the University's new Procedures for Reviewing Candidates for Tenure and/or Promotion: Tenure-Track and Tenured Faculty and revised unit 7.12 documents.
