Faculty Searches 2007/08

During 2007/08 the College of Liberal Arts will for search for new tenure-track and tenured positions across the arts, humanities and social sciences. Positions are open in the units and areas identified below and will begin fall semester 2008 or later.

In most cases, application materials will be submitted electronically, within the University's online employment system.

Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology will search for a tenure-track scholar specializing in Historical Archaeology (tenure-track requisition 146719).

Art History

The Department of Art History will search for open rank positions in the Arts of Latin America ( tenure-track requisition 149298; tenured requisition 149299); and the Arts of North America (tenure-track requisition 148359; tenured requisition 149295).

Economics

The Department of Economics will search for a tenure-track faculty position. Area of specialization is open (tenure-track requisition 150280).

Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies

The Department of Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies will search for a tenure-track faculty position. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate expertise in African American, African Diasporic, and/or Indigenous studies (requisition 151030).

Geography

The Department of Geography invites applictions for a full-time faculty position in the area of health and the environment. Appointment will be at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor (tenure-track requisition 150985) or tenured associate professor (tenured requisition 151590).

History

The Department of History will search for a tenured faculty position in Early Modern or Modern Jewish History (tenured requisition 150088).

History will search for a scholar secializing in African History. Appointment will be at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor (tenure-track requisition 150872; tenured requisition 150876).

History will also search for tenure-track position specializing in the history of science and/or history of women and gender and Japan in a transnational and comparative context (tenure-track requisition 152143).

Journalism and Mass Communication

The School of Journalism and Mass Communication will search for a tenure-track faculty position specializing in Stratgic Communication (tenure-track requisition 151287).

Music

The College of Liberal Arts invites applications and nominations for a dynamic and creative Director of the School of Music. The search will be conducted by the college's Office of the Associate Dean for Faculty and Research. View complete position announcement or printable pdf.

Political Science

The Department of Political Science will search for a senior scholar at the rank of tenured associate professor or tenured professor in American Politics (requisition 149760).

Political Science also conduct open rank searches in International Relations (tenure-track requisition 149746; tenured requisition 149741) and Political Theory (tenure-track requisition 149736; tenured requisition 149694).

Sociology

The Department of Sociology will conduct an open field search for an outstanding senior scholar at the rank of tenured associate professor or tenured professor (requisition 149655).

Sociology also will search for an open rank position specializing in migration, race and/or ethnicity, broadly defined. This search is part of CLA’s Diversity Initiative (tenure-track requsition 149619 ; tenured requisition 149618 ).

Spanish and Portuguese Studies

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies will search for an assistant or associate professor specializing in Modern and/or Contemporary Spanish Literature and Culture (tenure-track assistant professor requisition 150808; tenured associate professor requisition 150887).

The department alwo will search for an assistant or associate professor specializing in Spanish Medieval Studies (tenure-track assistant professor requisition 150819; tenured associate professor requisition 150910).

Statistics

The School of Statistics will conduct an open rank search for one or more full-time faculty positions. Area of specializaion is open. Appointment may be at the rank of tenure-track assistant professor, tenured associate professor, or tenured professor (tenure-track requisition 150399; tenured requisition 150354).

Theatre Arts and Dance

The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance will search for tenure-track faculty positions Theory/History (requisition 151315) and Design/Stage Management (requisition pending).
